DJs like Rainer Truby introduced the pioneering German jazz label MPS to a younger audience. More than 700 jazz records were released by MPS, many of them recorded by its founder and producer Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer in his own studio. In addition to the most important German artists such as Albert Mangelsdorff, Wolfgang Dauner, Volker Kriegel and others, many of the international greats made there way to the Black Forest, too: Oscar Peterson, George Duke, Duke Ellington, Jena-Luc Ponty - to name only but a few. Elke Baur's documentary captures the era of the "Most Perfect Sound" and its protagonists. Rare live and archive material plus interviews with former MPS artists and staff give an inside account of the legendary MPS/Musik Produktion Schwarzwald (Black Forest music production).
