Ganga, a happy-go-lucky village youth brought up by simple goatherds. Ganga is in love with Sawari but Sawari's father learns that Ganga is the son of a rich industrialist and was given to the childless goatherds. Ganga leaves for the city and finds that he's a complete social misfit in his socialite family. He is miserable until he meets Tina, a lonely, mixed-up girl and perhaps the only one sympathetic to his plight. Tina is drawn to this simple soul. The family decides that if Ganga makes a match with Tina, it will improve their social standing. However, on the day of the engagement, Sawari lands up at Ganga's house and on seeing him and Tina together, she decides to return to her village....
