Joanna grew up in tropical Malaysia, and as a little girl never saw snow. Inspired by fairytales and picture books, she always longed to make the journey north - and see the Northern Lights. Now she is finally travelling through Norway and across the Arctic Circle to Svalbard,.the most northerly permanently inhabited place on Earth. Her journey takes her from train to boat to husky-sled, to snowmobile, as she is pulled ever northwards. She explores the romantic fjords of Lofoten; speeds across endless expanses of Lapland tuhdra with a Sami herdsman in search of his reindeer; is treated to a yoik, a traditional song, by one of the community's elders, and, as she reaches the Arctic Ocean, prepares for bed in an ice hotel.
