The only true folk hero to emerge from British Punk, Joe Strummer would have fitted into any era's music scene and attacked it with the same cutting-edge gusto he did that of the mid to late 1970's movement. An all-round champion of the underdog and a man who didn't allow cynicism to cloud his long-term vision, Strummer still means so much to so many in a manner only very few performers ever achieve. This two disc set is a tribute to Joe and his legacy and includes a classic documentary film charting his life and career and featuring; the rarest footage out there of Strummer, The Clash and The Mescaleros, much from private collections; interviews with all the remaining Clash members (Mick, Paul and Topper) plus assorted friends such as Johnny Green, Tymon Dogg, Jason Mayall, Kris Needs and a host of others; seldom seen photographs, and much more besides. The second disc contains a series of audio interviews with Joe, recorded throughout his career, during which he builds a picture of his life and philosophy over 11 fascinating conversations recorded between 1979 and 2001, the final of which was given on his 49th birthday.
