They must surely be early music's most famous family threesome: the brothers Barthold, Sigiswald and Wieland Kuijken, who as soloists and ensemble directors together with a wide variety of partners have for decades now been producing definitive interpretations in the field of period performing practice. Here, against the backdrop of Leipzig's Altes Rathaus and accompanied by harpsichordist Robert Kohnen, they offer their very own take on Bach's Musical Offering, a work which, born of a melody devised by Frederick the Great, is performed as expertly as it is beautifully sounding. Musical Offering, recorded live at the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall), Leipzig, 28 July 2000.
