Sir John Betjeman was born in Highgate in 1906. A prolific poet, broadcaster and architectural campaigner, he was knighted in 1969 and made Poet Laureate in 1972. He died in May 1984 and is buried in St Endoc's Church near his beloved home in Trebetherick. Written and narrated by Sir John Betjeman, 'Bird's Eye View: Beside The Seaside' traces the origins of the British seaside holiday, believed to have originated with King George III.
