John Blackwell: The Master Series (2008)

Instructional film presented by drummer John Blackwell and filmed in front of a live audience. In the first section, Blackwell performs with his band and then explains and demonstrates the drum parts. The second section covers topics such as playing musically, grooving and embellishing the groove without over-playing, fills and solos, showmanship and independence. Blackwell also discusses his jazz, R 'n' B and hip hop roots.
