In 1983 Joni Mitchell set out on what was then the longest tour of her career with her new husband, rock bassist Larry Klein, and their band. When the tour was over she made a film version of it. Inter-cutting in-studio performances with home movies and iconic film clips, (Joni's '60s anthem "Woodstock" is included under footage from the concert film), 'Refuge of the Roads' offers an intimate look at a joyful time in the life of an elusive artist. And it is here, in 'Refuge of the Road's, that Joni - the always-changing, ever-growing musician - delivers some of the most self-assured and high-spirited performances of her career.
