Jossy Blair (Jim Barclay) was a talented footballer in his youth. But his career was cut short after he injured himself during his first game for Newcastle United. One day Jossy sees the local youth football club, the Glipton Grasshoppers, struggle in a match, and offers the boys some much-needed advice on improving their game. After hearing about Jossy's past and reputation, the Grasshoppers, along with their friend and number one fan Tracey (Julie Foy), decide they need his expertise, and convince Jossy to become their new manager. Jossy takes on the seemingly mammoth task of training the cheeky and boisterous boys in the team. But with some organisation, a change of attitude, and a lot of humour along the way, he transforms them into a respectable team, the Glipton Giants. First shown on BBC One in 1986, 'Jossy's Giants' has since become an iconic TV series fondly remembered by a generation of football mad children who grew up in the eighties. Directed by Edward Pugh (Grange Hill, Byker Grove), and written by TV personality and darts commentator Sid Waddell. Featuring guest star appearances from footballers Bobby Charlton and then-England captain Bryan Robson.
