Three part documentary series dealing with how the afterlife has been depicted in art through the centuries. In the first episode, 'Judgement', leading art historian Tim Marlow examines how art has dealt with both the moment of death, and the religious consequences therein. The second episode,'Heaven', reflects on how the concept has been handled by artists, and the different ways in which religions across the globe have represented it. Episode three, 'Hell', investigates the many ways hell has been depicted through time, and asks whether depictions of heaven and hell reflect the spiritual, or are merely a form of social control.
