- Synopsis:
- "Swan Song" depicts the defeat and betrayal of an old musician in Guangzhou in the last years of his life. He entered "New China" in 1949 with an opium addiction, a black period that cost his marriage and job. Now he struggles through life coaching amateur orchestras, but he is only really broken when his son (a Red Garde dissident) rejects him and also tries to make an illegal transit to Hong Kong.
