Kate - Portrait of a Princess On 16th November 2010, the world learned what Kate Middleton had known for four weeks that she was to become the next Princess to enter the Royal household, and the wife of the future King, Prince William. 'Kate Portrait of a Princess' looks at the world's fascination with the outsider who marries into the Royal Family, from the mythological children's tales to the media obsessions of today. It also examines the role of a princess in the modern world. What defines the life of a princess? Is it the promised cocktail of power and beauty, or the chance to do good somewhere? Perhaps both. Perhaps each princess makes the title work in their own way. Certainly Diana, as the Princess of Wales, made the role her own in her short life. Now it is to be the turn of young Kate Middleton, wife to be of William, Diana's eldest son. This film examines what lies ahead for Kate, as well as celebrating her life so far in her own words and the words of her loved ones. How will she handle the mantle of Princess and the constant spotlight?
