April 2012 marks the centenary of one of the greatest and most beloved singers of the 20th century - the great English contralto, Kathleen Ferrier. Hers was a unique voice, never matched or bettered in the years since her untimely death in 1953, aged just 41. During her short but prolific career, she recorded many definitive interpretations of both sacred and operatic repertoire - all for Decca Classics. Decca's previous Ferrier video, the best-selling 'An Ordinary Diva', has sold more than 20,000 copies since its release in 2004. This new film is the first to come from France and the video will be accompanied by a special bonus CD featuring never-before-released recordings, taken from USA radio archives.
