It's a time when free speech was just a wishful dream for many citizens around the world. In 1650 New Amsterdam, Brom Broeck (Nelson Eddy) is a young newspaper publisher who finds himself in a world of trouble for printing opinions of the Governor 'Peg-Leg' Stuyvesant (Charles Coburn).
