Idealistic young priest Michael Lamb (Liam Neeson) is struggling with his faith following the death of his father. When 10-year-old epileptic Owen (Hugh O'Conor) is dumped at the remand home where Michael teaches, he begins to regress under the brutal regime of head priest Brother Benedict (Ian Bannen). Feeling a kinship for young Owen, Michael snatches him from the school and the pair go on the run to London, posing as father and son. But time begins to run out very quickly and Lamb has to make a very difficult decision...
