Running for two distinguished series, the pairing of theatrical and cinematic legend Laurence Olivier and Granada Television produced six outstanding adaptations, including some plays which Olivier had staged at the National Theatre during his tenure. Featuring scripts by the likes of Harold Pinter, Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall and Jack Rosenthal, the plays attracted a wealth of talent including the likes of Alan Bates, Helen Mirren, Malcolm McDowell, Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, Donald Pleasence, Joan Plowright, Frank Finlay, Edward Woodward and, of course, Olivier himself.
