Synopsis:
"Le Testament du Docteur Cordelier" is a strikingly original adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde'. Up-dating the story to 1950's Paris, the film is an insightful and fascinating work that explores what it means to be human in the modern age. Originally made for French television, 'Le Testament du Docteur Cordelier' is perhaps Renoir's most under-rated film and features an astonishing dual performance by Jean-Louis Barrault as both the charming Cordelier and his monstrous alter-ego Opale.

Lame - basically a showcase for Jean Louis Barrault - Le Testament du Docteur Cordelier review by MR

Spoiler Alert

Tried to give this two and a half stars but there don't seem to be halves. The film is pretty lame, with some poor acting and some over-acting. It is simply a showcase for Jean Louis Barrault to play the two different characters. He is interesting, if you just like to watch this actor, but although the bad character is supposedly a 'demon', there is little horror or tension generated in the film about the degenerate things that he gets up to, it is more hinted at genteely.
