The end of World War II has coma, but for many in Poland the suffering has not ceased. Lena Kuchler has come to the Jewish Refugee Centre in search of missing relatives. But she finds 100 starving children - all without families or homes. Kuchler is determined to help the children. She transports them to a safe house in the country and tends to them there. However, anti-Semitism again rises in Poland, and Kuchler and the children must flee. Armed with false passports and the desire to reach the Promised Land, Kuchler and her children begin their journey, which eventually settles the children in a new nation of Israel.
