"Lennox" is an Austrian documentary on the subject of getting out of drug addiction. Five people openly talk about their heroin addiction: They describe experiences in their youth that were shaped by the feeling of “not belonging”, by anger, powerlessness, loss, lack of self-worth and excessive consideration for the suffering of others, neglect or abuse. They tell about slipping into dependency and about the promising intoxication that brings security and inner warmth and puts you in a state in which one forgets the problems of life for a short time. All five also look at the painful consequences of addiction: the lack of freedom that arises from addiction, the stress of procurement, the activation of unsuspected criminal energies, the destructive power and the stigma, which clings to a heroin addict. Ultimately, it is about possible exit scenarios from addiction: from becoming aware of the problem and the decision to want to live, to accepting help: one of them is substitution, which shows the way to freedom.
