Synopsis:
Anna Politkovskaya was a fearless Russian reporter who regularly wrote for Novaya Gazyeta - one of the country's few independent journals ? exposing government corruption and genocide, and demanding accountability. On October 7th, 2006, she was shot and left for dead at her Moscow home.
Filmmaker Eric Bergkraut struck up a friendship with Politkovskaya while making a documentary about Chechnya, and Letter to Anna is a personal tribute as well as an investigation into the suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. Featuring archival interviews with the late reporter, as well as contributions from colleagues and loved ones, Letter to Anna paints a portrait not only of a brave and elegant journalist but of a nation who in suffering her unsolved murder have taken another step back from truth, freedom and democracy
