1971. António Lobo Antunes' (Miguel Nunes)' life is brutally interrupted when the Portuguese army recruits him to practice as a doctor in one of the worst areas of the colonial war, eastern Angola. Away from everything he loves, he writes numerous letters to his young wife, wrapped in an increasingly violent environment. As they change their destiny, they fall in love with Africa and mature politically. Beside him, a whole generation struggles against despair and wonders if he will ever return home. In such an uncertain warlike setting, the letters become his only link to survival. Based on the acclaimed book "Letters of War (Correspondence from Angola)" by António Lobo Antunes.
