In a suburban area of London, Jota (Ruben Garcia) and Bela (Lúcia Moniz), he is an unemployed artist and her cleaning lady, do their best not to let their three children lack the essentials, living on the edge of legality, the second daughter is deaf (due to a childhood meningitis) but very intelligent. When there is a misunderstanding with the child at school, social services are concerned about the conditions in which the children live. What was supposed to be a simple checkup turns into the tragic moment of forced separation from the three children. The battle against the law begins for them. Thanks to a secret support network, contrary to the aggressive way of handling foster care and preventive adoptions of the local court, the couple regain the hope of having the children back.
