- Since the day her husband left her, Judith (Holly Hunter) has allowed memories and fantasies to dominate her life. Years spent playing the role of the perfect wife to an imperfect spouse have left her feeling cold and dormant. Enter Pat (Danny DeVito), the elevator operator in Judith's plush building, a man with dreams and sorrows of his own.
