Ian Holm gives one of the finest performances of his career as J.M. Barrie, the enigmatic and controversial creator of Peter Pan. Desperately lonely, repressed and tormented by compulsive inner demons, Barrie's life is changed forever when he strikes up a friendship with a little boy named George Llewelyn Davies in Kensington Gardens. Barrie imposes himself onto the Llewelyn Davies family and becomes a more and more dominant figure in the lives of George and his younger brothers. From their shared games and fantasies he begins to weave together the story of Peter Pan. However, as tragedy strikes the family and his own marriage starts to fall apart, Barrie's relationship with his Lost Boys' becomes ever more complex and strange.
