It was the show that launched Jim Reeves. During the eighteen months on the show from 1954-1955, Elvis Presley shook country music to its roots.
In its heyday between 1948-1958, the Louisiana Hayride was one of the most important and influential country music radio shows, rivalling even Nashville's famous Grande Ole Opry. Broadcast live every Saturday night between 8-11pm on KWKH, it featured sensational performances by some of country's greatest names, including Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, George Jones, Slim Whitman and a host of others.This is the story of the radio show that helped define country music, told through rare original audio and film recordings, home movies and exclusive interviews with staff and stars. Announcers Frank Page and Norm Bale, along with show producer Horace Logan recall the glory days at the Municipal Auditorium, Shreveport, while a host of star performers including Slim Whitman and Faron Young add their own, unique reminiscences of a golden era of country music. - Actors:
