- When Pauline Paradise (Alison Steadman) retires from her job as a lollipop lady she looks around her life and thinks 'is this it?' She's got a monosyllabic husband, an eccentric father, and the endless demands of her children and grandchildren to look forward to. So she decides to seize the day and make a change. She walks out on her life and moves in with her footloose and fancy free younger sister, (Celia Imrie) putting herself first for the first time in her life. Pauline's walkout immediately sends shockwaves throughout the family, but little do they know the massive effect it will have on all their lives... and in particular their love lives.
