Love Thy Neighbour takes a lighthearted look at the problem of colour through the eyes of a white couple, Eddie and Joan Booth, and a black couple, Bill and Barbie Reynolds, who move in next door. This series helps to take some of the heat out of race relations by showing the funny side of everyday conflict. In the eighth and final series of Love Thy Neighbour (set in the UK that is!) Joan is shocked when she learns that Eddie has put their house on the market. Bill and Barbie receive an electricity bill which they've already paid. When Eddie steps in to sort it out he promptly gets the Reynolds cut off meaning that they have to move in with him and Joan!! When Eddie has a few too many, he ends up with a tramp as a lodger. To his consternation the tramp is more useful about the house - in Joan's eyes anyway - and Eddie, as has always been the case, is the loser.
