- From acclaimed director Geoffrey Wright (Romper Stomper) comes this contemporary take on the Shakespeare classic. Set in the violent criminal underworld of Melbourne, Australia, the story follows Macbeth (Sam Worthington), a loyal henchman to his crime boss, Duncan. Macbeth is told he will one day assume great power and driven by this prophecy he plots with his wife to kill his boss and gain control of the organisation. But Macbeth knows that to maintain power he must remain ruthless, and with his remaining enemies uniting in a bid to destroy him, the end is bound to be bloody.

Absolute genious - Macbeth review by CP Customer
Set in the Melbourne Underworld in present day is one of the reasons why i enjoyed this film so much, that and it keeps true to the original script (much like Romeo and Juliet adaptation with Leonardo Di Caprio).
Instead of swords there are maching guns, instead of horses there are sports cars and motocycles, the adaptation was done very well.
The movie keeps its medievel atmosphere whilst being very modern.
This movie is a must see!
