Alternating between rehearsal's and performances of the classic Japanese 'I-dun-nit' Rashomon, this film is at once the portrait and the agent of a revelation. As the actors come to understand their roles and thus become the characters they portray, the viewer comes to appreciate the intricate, mysterious and laborious creative process at the end of which 'a play is born'.
