In the early months of the year 2000 the Manchester Evening News began a feature in their Saturday edition entitled "Then and Now" which featured a photograph of a Manchester scene taken up to one hundred and twenty years ago along side a modern day picture of the same site. This series became very popular with the readers and is in fact still running over two years later. Film Studios are now able to bring many of these photographs to you in a digitally enhanced format, which will provide spell binding nostalgic viewing for any Mancunian. The still images used in this video are from a collection of 77,000 photographs chronicling the changing face of Manchester over 250 years, stored on an easy to use computer system at the Manchester Archive and Local Studies Centre based at Central Library.
