The Latvian conductor Mariss Jansons is recognised as one of the most distinguished musicians of his generation and now belongs among the international elite of his profession. He was the Music Director of the Oslo Philharmonic from 1979 to 2000. Under his guidance, it became established as a front-rank orchestra. In this programme, Jansons is seen rehearsing Bartok's powerful Miraculous Mandarin Suite with the Oslo Philharmonic. They then perform the work in concert at the Oslo Concert Hall.
