Investigative reporter, Fran Simmons, has only just returned to her native New York when a huge story lands on her desk. Five years ago, her high-school friend Molly Carpenter was convicted of murdering her husband Dr Gary Lasch. Molly was found catatonic on her bed, covered in blood, but with no memory of what had taken place. With a long prison sentence recently ended by parole, Molly, with her old friend's assistance, is now determined to reassemble her partial memories of the fateful night. As they delve deeper, it appears that Gary was not quite the man he seemed. With a pregnant mistress and shady business dealings to conceal, there were many possible motives. The only question is, how far will Fran and Molly get before the real killer returns to cover his tracks?
