Matt Hayes takes you on an incredible source to sea fishing adventure.
River Severn Matt Hayes begins his adventure on the Severn trout fishing at Llyn Clywedog Reservoir. Down to Caersws, he targets grayling on the fly before enjoying a float fishing session for chub. On the river’s upper reaches, local legends teach Matt everything there is to know about salmon fishing before he lands a few wonderful specimens. On the Middle Severn, Matt finds himself in barbel country and the species tests his tackle to the limit. The charm of the Lower Mid Lie Severn doesn’t distract Matt from his mission of netting more monster barbel and his epic adventure ends with a lure fishing session for huge pike.
River Great Ouse After discovering the river’s source near Brackley in Northants, Matt fishes for perch at Ravenstone Mill. He then lands a very big tench at Olney before arriving in Bedford and a session on the 'Roxron D’ stretch. He nets some beautiful specimens and a stop at the market town of St. Neots produces a healthy young predator or two. The middle reaches near the village of Offord Cluny deliver some excellent pike and chub and Matt then takes a boat downstream to St. Ives for some spectacular fishing for pike. Matt learns how “The Fens” were created and stops at the Twenty Pence Marina to fish for skimmer bream. He also targets zander at Fly before some respectable tench on the Lower Great Ouse brings his river adventure to a close.
River Shannon Near the source of the Shannon, Matt targets pike on Lough Allen and carp at Rooskey Weir. On the upper reaches, he bags roach and perch at Tarmonbarry Bridge before a ‘splash and dash’ in a tiny tributary lands a few surprises. Arriving at Lanesborough, Matt tries his luck on one of the Shannon’s most famous hot spots before he is taken American-style lure fishing on the beautiful Lough Ree. The Middle Shannon sees Matt produce a surprise pike and some classic Shannon bream before local ‘gillie’ David Harris puts him onto some fine ‘Dustbins’ at the spectacular Lough Derg. At Portumna Matt slams into some very large Pike and at Castleconnell he lands a fin-perfect salmon. Matt ends his adventure with an incredible day’s fishing with Noel Gallagher in the Shannon Estuary.
