Modern and historic footage tells the story of the 'war horse' of the 12 Western air forces. The carrier-based Phantom II won its spurs in Vietnam where its extraordinary capabilities led to adaptation for land-based roles ranging from ground attack through battlefield reconnaissance to defence suppression. 'McDonnell Douglas: F-4 Phantom II' covers the first development of the type and its powerful engine and includes a walk-round of an F-4B. The Phantom then joins the fleet and U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force's machines see action in Vietnam. Also included are Phantoms in service with other air forces, its weaponry, U.S. display teams and the 1,000th to 5,000th Phantom milestones. 'McDonnell Douglas: F-4 Phantom II' is accompanied by a detailed script by aviation expert Chris Chant.
