Three short documentary films by Michael Lawson focusing on the plight of the Dalit (or 'untouchable') people of India. 'Hope for the Children' shows life in Dalit villages through the eyes of the children, and explains something of the history of untouchability. 'Kancha Ilaiah in Conversation' is an in depth face-to-face interview with one of the world's leading authorities on the Dalits, and contains a passionate appeal to the West to support the Dalit cause. 'Hope for the Children: Short Version' is a truncated version of the first film, designed to be shown to small groups and at public gatherings.
