Documentary film by Michael Dawson focusing on the plight of the Dalit (or 'untouchable') people of India. 250 million Dalit people in India are caught in a trap of poverty, oppression and slavery. As a result of being born into the lowest caste, the Dalit people are left powerless to escape from their dire situation. This film looks at families who have been tricked into a lifetime of human bondage, living in single concrete pipes holding no hope for the future; families who work 14 hours a day for the equivalent of four pounds a month; girls who are forced into sexual slavery for life in the Hindu temples; and child slaves, condemned to work in fields, factories or sweatshops making goods for their rich masters.
