Internationally celebrated songwriter, jazz virtuoso and composer of unforgettable film music, Michel Legrand has to date won three Oscars and five Grammys for his work encompassing more than 200 film and television scores, several musicals and well over a hundred albums. In the early 1950s, Legrand worked with legendary jazz innovators Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and John Coltrane before moving on to collaborations with French nouvelle vague directors Jean-Luc Godard, Jacques Demy and Claude Chabrol as well as with such Hollywood greats as Clint Eastwood, Orson Welles and Richard Brooks. Legrand, whose creativity and ambition would seem boundless, enjoys as much acclaim in the United States as he does in Europe.
