The lust, corruption and greed of William Rowley and Thomas Middleton's 17th Century Gothic play is retold with a modern edge in this lavish adaptation. As the daughter of the most powerful man in Alicante, Beatrice has it all including an engagement to a suitable, young nobleman. But Beatrice's wild spirit and passionate heart belong to another and in her desperation to be free she begs the repulsive De Flores (Ian Dury), her father's servant, to murder her fiance. The price for this crime is set too high, De Flores asks for the very innocence she has vowed to save for her true love. unable to succumb to the terms of the bargain she deceives him by switching with her maid, a betrayal that culminates in a bloodbath...
