An exciting action adventure film for all the family, based on Astrid Lindgren's famous book "Mio My Son". 'Mio' tells the story of a young boy (Nick Pickard) who lived with his nagging Aunt Elda (Gunilla Nyroos). After a particularly bad day at school, and an even worse evening with his Aunt, the boy decided to run away to find his father who he had never seen. As he ran through the streets of the city, the kindly Mrs. Lundin (Linn Stokke) gave him an apple and a mysterious card to post; the card was addressed "To the King of the Land of Faraway". As he bit the apple, he set in motion a strange sequence of events. He freed a spirit with a long, long beard, and the spirit took the boy on a visit to the King. High and far they soared, over land and sea, out into space, on and on until they reached Green Meadow Island to meet the King (Timothy Bottoms). As soon as they met, the boy knew he had found his father. Joyfully the King swept his long lost son into his arms, gave him his name, Prince Mio and presented him with a beautiful white horse, Miramis. In the palace Mio made friends with Jum-Jum (Christian Bale) who looked incredibly like his friend bock home. Together with Miramis, they set off on an incredible series of adventures...the forest of mysteries...the Weaver Woman...and the evil knight Kato (Christopher Lee).
