The terrorist attacks of 911 resulted in the collapse of two of the three buildings that planes flew into but why did the third building stay predominantly upright? We hear from the fighters who were first on the scene, forensic engineers who studied the reasons behind the collapses and eyewitnesses who describe the mayhem and destruction caused on 11th September 2001. Many years and much research has gone into trying to find the reasons behind why the twin towers of the World Trade Centre failed yet the Pentagon remained standing. When Tower 1 collapsed it set fire to No.7 World Trade Centre which also crumbled yet no plane had flown into that building. Experts join forces to give details about the construction of the buildings, why the South Tower collapsed after 56 minutes yet the North Tower remained standing for 103 minutes and why the unique design of the Pentagon along with its retro fitted construction allowed it to survive.
