Archie MacDonald is carving out a life for himself as a restaurateur in London when he is summoned home to the Scottish Highlands after his father, The Laird of Glenbogle, is injured in an accident. On his return to the 40,000 acre estate Archie discovers the property is debt-ridden and reluctantly agrees to stay in order to turn the finances around. Archies herculean task is made more difficult by the presence of his childhood friend, Katrina, who is deeply committed to protecting the rights of the estate's employees and residents followed by the arrival of Justine, his girlfriend and restaurant co-owner.
