Featuring guest appearances from Eric Porter, Kenneth McKellar, Dusty Springfield, Michael Redgrave and Robin Day. The BBC series of 'The Morecambe and Wise Show' was one of the most loved television series ever and represented the legendary comic duo at the height of their popularity. In their magnificent sketches, musical numbers and magical tomfoolery, they would captivate an audience of millions and leave a thousand hilarious memories. By 1970 there was no stopping Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise.Their fourth series, the second series to be produced that year, was in production even as the previous series was on air. Eric continued to muck about - desperately trying to find the gap in the curtain, staring into the camera, dragging his partner aside for stage whispers and employing his catchphrases such as "You said that without moving your lips", while Ernie attempted to play it straight, just occasionally succumbing to an unavoidable grin. The shows now followed an established pattern. (Ann Hamilton was such a regular that writer Eddie Braben called her "Ann of a thousand sketches") - They featured the inimitable introduction, often with Ernie appearing briefly alone, quick-fire sketches, episodes from their apartment, musical guests and the magnificent 'Ernest Wise Players' with Eric Porter in Wuthering Heights and Fenella Fielding in a Noel Coward tribute.
