Based on the novel by Elizabeth Taylor, Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont tells the tale of Mrs. Palfrey (Joan Plowright), an elegant, genteel widow who has come to London to take up residency at the Claremont Hotel. Her heart is filled with the promise of cosmopolitan pleasures in the big city, until reality takes hold. There's one hope: her grandson Desmond. A chance meeting becomes a chance for happiness, as life takes an unexpected turn, and more than one person discovers the joy of a life well lived.
