This much loved tale, based on the Chinese legend, tells the story of a young Chinese girl who goes to war to protect her family's honour. Having spent her childhood learning how to fight, ride and shoot like a boy, by her mentor, Master Fazhou, Mulan is told by her family that now is the time to learn more ladylike skills in preparation for becoming a wife. When her elderly father, an ex General, falls off his horse and cannot fulfil his duties by serving in the Chinese army, Mulan offers to fight instead, as there is no elder son who can take the ex General's place. After convincing her father that she can match any soldier in the army, Mulan disguises herself as a man and sets off into the night to fight in the war. Mulan meets Li Shang, who is also serving in the war on behalf of his elderly father. They become firm friends during the three years they are at war but will Li Shang and the army discover Mulan's secret...
