The perennial Kirk Douglas stars in 'My Dear Secretary', a delightful romantic comedy film. In this easy-paced silver screen movie, which first entertained cinema fans more than half a century ago, Douglas, in the role of a famous author Owen Waterbury, finally meets his romantic match when he hires a secretary (played by Laraine Day) and her first novel becomes a best-seller. Waterbury's new secretary soon becomes disenchanted with her boss however when she realises that he is more interested in the female sex than in literature! There are plenty of laughs along the rocky road to romance for both Kirk Douglas and Laraine Day in their respective roles, and eventually she leaves him - only to return if he agrees to marry her. Helen Walker, Rudy Vallee, Florence Bates, Keenan Wynn, Alan Mowbray and Grady Sutton also deliver sparkling performances in 'My Dear Secretary', an easy-going well-paced romantic movie that is full of gentle humour. And Kirk Douglas, in one of his earliest movies, displays the style and panache that have helped make him one of the most popular movies stars of the last century.
