If you are young, in love, and perhaps about to commit to marriage, this might not the best time to watch Mon Roi. But if you have lived a little, or just curious about how real relationships can develop, then maybe this is one for you. Not everything is a bed of roses, but life has it's twists and turns. Up for the challenge, well just enjoy it. The acting is good, and I won't spoil it by saying much more. It's French. It's passionate. And life throws you a curve ball, at times.
Would review, but couldn't understand any of it as we had no subtitles!!! Tried all the 'cures' listed on this website, but nothing worked. How disappointing.
Two narratives are intertwined but the core story is of a couple who veer from hysterical and childish hilarity to violent rows. Section one is chock full of this, perhaps to enlist audience sympathy But it doesn't really work : the two leads are pushing fifty and even their friends ask why they hang out with youngers. Bercot's answer is to shrug her shoulders -- mine too. The second section is better and that should have been the end of it. But there's more. The last of the three sections is dull and repetitious. Some severe editing would have helped. The low point is when the Bercot character,Toni, a woman who is clearly circling the runway of Straitjacket Airport, is given the job of defending a CEO murderer in court -- bllmey, I'd've thought twice about giving her a job wrapping rock salmon.
