This battle turned on the tactical genius, immense bravery and boundless ambition of one man: Napoleon. Ultimately, French victory at Toulon saved the Revolution. But it would also set Napoleon on the road to greatness. This is one of the great stories of how, through force of extraordinary personality, one man can bend history to his will.
