Josie Rourke directs this production of the play by George Bernard Shaw starring Gemma Arterton, with a musical score by Michael Bruce. Based on the life and trial of Joan of Arc (Arterton), the story follows Joan as she travels to France, determined to rid the country of the English and ensure the rightful King takes the throne. Claiming that she can speak directly to Saints Margaret and Catherine, Joan believes that they provide her with a personal link to God. With most people thinking of her as nothing more than a simple maid, Joan sets out to prove her worth once and for all.
