The BBC's world-renowned Natural History Unit has brought the marvels of the planet to millions of viewers using breathtaking photography and pioneering filming techniques. Natural World is their award winning flagship series that presents surprising wildlife stories from across the world. The snow leopard, one of the most beautiful of all the big cats, is also one of the rarest. Natural World visits a hidden lair and lifts the veil on this elusive predator. Working for the BBC's Planet Earth team that filmed the first intimate images of a snow leopard marked the beginning of a love affair for Nisar Malik, a Pakistani journalist more at home covering the conflicts in Afghanistan than tracking wildlife. Enlisting the help of wildlife cameraman Mark Smith, he is determined to find out more about this beautiful animal. Their combined expertise allows them to gain unique insight into the day to day life of a snow leopard in the wilds of the Hindu Kush, but Nisar and Mark soon realise this is not just a wildlife film.Venturing beyond the myth, and telling the snow leopard's real story, it profiles not only the creature's endangered future, but also a much misunderstood part of the world.
