The Rang Mahal palace represents Chitrasen's (Raj Kumar) eternal love for Princess Neel Kamal (Waheeda Rehman), for whom he had it built. Chitrasen was buried alive in Rang Mahal by the King's order for daring to ask for the Princess's hand. Chitrasen love for Neel Kamal continued beyond the confines of death and his spirit roamed the ruins of Rang Mahal for centuries in wait for Neel Kamal's return. When she finally returns to Rang Mahal, she's no longer Neel Kamal; she is now Sita. Nor does she remember Chitrasen or Rang Mahal. What she does know is that she belongs to her husband Ram (Manoj Kumar) and no one else. Yet, whenever Chitrasen calls out for her, she can't help but go to him. Sita is torn between her past life and present life. Her abrupt disappearances break her husband's heart and drive a wedge between them. In time, her memories of Rang Mahal, Chitrasen and her love for him return...Will she join her spirit with Chitrasen and finally give him the freedom to move on or will she go back home to Ram and try to forget about the past? - Actors:
